Magazine | Hedge fund employee loses sex discrimination claim
A legal executive who worked in the city for a hedge fund has lost her £4million compensation claim for sexual harassment.
Jordan Wimmer left her job last year after the company deducted money from her wages to repay an earlier loan she had taken to pay for treatment in a private clinic for depression.
Ms Wimmer accused her boss, Mark Lowe - who is also the owner of the hedge fund Nomos Capital where she was an employee - of sex discrimination and of ‘showering her with sexist jokes’. Although her boss conceded sending her lurid jokes and admitted to calling her a ‘bimbo’ and referring to her as ‘decorative’, he denied the other allegations.
The employment tribunal dismissed Ms Wimmer’s evidence as ‘exaggerated.’
