MidlandHR to supply Leonard Cheshire Disability
MidlandHR have signed up Leonard Cheshire Disability to their iTrent payroll and HR software, providing a centralised system for over 7,000 employees across 140 sites throughout the UK.: The charity previously used an outsourced payroll bureau service to manage its HR needs, but decided it needed a more flexible arrangement.
UK finally gets online accounting software
Company accounts including payroll can now be processed automatically following the launch of online accounting software by Xero last month. The programme links bank and credit card transaction details directly to companies’ accounts, removing the necessity for the time-consuming data entry of bank reconciliation. : The technology for the application has existed for 10 years in the US, where it is connected to 28 million accounts, but Xero is the first company to bring it to the UK. Here it is already linked to over 55 financial institutions including HSBC, RBS, Lloyds TSB and HBOS, and a further 80 banks will be added in the first quarter of 2011.
Sage simplifies payroll
Sage UK has launched payroll software specifically designed for small- to medium sized businesses. Inspired by feedback from employers who manage payroll in-house but are not payroll experts, Sage 50 Payroll 2011 provides a simplified package for generating employees’ payslips, managing starters and leavers, and recording holidays, rewards and year end submissions. : The software links directly to HMRC. For example, P46 Notices of new employees are submitted automatically when entered on to the system. This ‘Quick Link’ function covers a number of procedures, including converting employees into leavers. The programme can automatically calculate final payments, including outstanding holiday funds, and submit a P45 electronically to HMRC. It also has a function that calculates sacrifice salary pension amounts.
Expansion can be green
A global e-invoicing company has ranked among the top 500 fastest-growing technology companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. OB10 was placed 383th in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 EMEA 2010 after recording greater than 280% growth over the past five years. The company credited its success to companies realising the financial and environmental benefits of using electronic invoicing over its paper counterpart.
Prize for payslips pioneer
Advanced Business Solutions (ABS) won a gold award at the National Green Apple Environment Awards at a House of Commons ceremony in November 2010. ABS won for its electronic payslips module, which allows employees to receive payslips by email, thereby reducing paper consumption and carbon emissions. A spokesman said the scheme had also saved the company money.
Curtain up on Opera 3
Opera 3, the software package from Pegasus Software that combines finance, payroll, customer relationship management and service systems, has been re-released. The new version has an Office 2010 interface, as well as such functions as a scheduler that allows users to run tasks after working hours, and an updated Online Filing Manager that includes submissions of the VAT 100 to HM Revenue & Customs.
