Kronos launches apps

Kronos has launched the UK’s first workforce management mobile applications.

The company has developed two apps, one for managers and one for employees, so that payroll data can be gathered anytime and anywhere via mobile devices.

The Workforce Mobile Manager app provides managerial functions including approving time cards and signing off employee requests, while the Workforce Mobile Employee app allows employees to submit information such as start and end times or leave requests.

The app does not process payroll itself, but prepares all the relevant information for a payroll service provider to run payments.

Simon Macpherson, senior director of business development and operations EMEA at Kronos, said the apps could save employers time and money. He explained: ‘If you’re a busy retailer and with lots of customers in, but one of your best employees has got a problem with their hours, for example, instead of having to leave the shop floor you can address the issue there and then on your phone.’

Kronos developed the apps over two years and created versions that can be used on most mobile devices, including iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and iPad.

‘The look and the way you interact with the app is the same as with existent apps,’ said Macpherson. ‘There’s no need for anyone to read a manual.’

Both apps can be downloaded for free by companies that subscribe to Kronos Workforce Central suite, but users incur a licence fee of about £5 each.

Designed for companies of all sizes, the technology is available in four languages.

•Employer Services will launch its payroll app, called esPAY, in April. It is HMRC Payroll Standard accredited.
