Lords seek new payroll and HR provider

The House of Lords has a budget of £100,000 to £200,000 for a new system to manage pay for around 500 monthly and 30 weekly casual staff, as well as managing the House of Lords pension scheme.

A spokeswoman in the House of Lords procurement department said: ‘Our existing contract is coming to
an end. We’re awaiting business case approval before we decide whether to upgrade the existing solution or to replace it’

House employees include researchers, administrative and facilities staff, who support the 786 variably sitting Lords. Payroll functions specific to the House of Lords include an Annual Night Allowance, which remunerates staff who regularly work late when sittings overrun.
