Online filing of tax self-assessment up 10% on last year

HMRC says that up to 7m online tax returns have been received as of last night, with 395,886 people filing yesterday.
On deadline day last year 600,000 people filed online and 6,334,956 returns were received by midnight the day before.
βIt will be hard to repeat that because the strike will knock back numbers,β a revenue spokesman said.
