P45 to stay when RTI is introduced
HMRC are seriously considering keeping the current P45 process when Real Time Information (RTI) is introduced, Payroll World understands.
Officially HMRC says RTI will remove the need for the P45/P46 process.
But sources close to the Revenue say there is concern that the P45 process as envisioned for RTI will not work while some people are using the RTI system and others are not, so in the RTI pilot year that begins in April the current P45 process should remain.
An HMRC spokesman said: “HMRC is considering all responses to the recent consultation on the draft regulations for RTI. However, no decisions have yet been made regarding recommendations.”
