Aer Lingus removes staff from payroll

Some 44 Aer Lingus cabin crew have been taken off the airline’s payroll, following a dispute over the company’s rota plan.

Staff were warned that those who persistently refuse to co-operate with the new rotas would be sent home and removed from the payroll.

Impact, the trade union representing the cabin crew, confirmed in a statement that 12 cabin crew had been struck from the payroll.

The airline was forced to cancel a flight from Boston after it claimed cabin crew had refused to operate flights under the new rota.

Impact claimed Aer Lingus management demanded staff sign an undertaking to perform all duties as instructed by management, but staff refused, which led to their removal from duties.
