Bond unveils tool to monitor time-wasting

Employers wishing to capture real-time information about the amount of time that workers spend on individual tasks can now do so automatically with software launched by Bond TeamSpirit.

The Project Consulting Module, released in May, provides a web-based timesheet mechanism that allows time-tracked information to be captured as it happens.

The module will be integrated into Bond TeamSpirit’s web-based employee selfservice application and allows employees to complete daily timesheets by allocating time to specified activities, then submit them to managers electronically for approval.

The timesheet can be configured with activity-dependent pay rates, and extra payments based on the location and delivery of work. This data can then be used to calculate accurate, real-time pay via the related TeamSpirit payroll module, as well as detailed resource cost for different projects.

Roger Moore, general manager at Bond TeamSpirit, said the software would help employers monitor expenditure across multiple projects and drive cost efficiency. ‘In these times of austerity, companies are being forced to demonstrate the value in each of their projects undertaken, and our project costing module provides a viable means to doing this,’ he said.

Time-tracking in the workplace has long been believed to reduce inactivity and increase profits.

A study published in March in legal journal Law Technology News concluded that any workers in creative professions – lawyers, librarians or developers – could benefit from using the technology, even temporarily, as it helped indicate where productivity could be improved.
