Concentra unveils tool for employee data mapping

Software that allows organisations to map employee data, produce to-the-minute reports and model organisational restructures has been developed by the business consulting and technology firm Concentra.

Currently in its pilot phase, web-based software OrgVue was launched last month at the Westminster Business School Employee Engagement Conference in London by Rupert Morrison, MD of Concentra.

Organisations can implement OrgVue without lengthy data input, as it integrates with common software used by payroll and HR professionals, such as Excel or MidlandHR’s iTrent, and will eventually connect to all systems.

Data can be updated manually, either by managers or employees, on a self-service basis. Permissions can be attached to changes for sign-off and the system requires little training to use.

The software also allows data to be manipulated to generate models of how changes might affect an organisation.

This can be done without permanently altering sensitive data, such as that stored by payroll.

Morrison told Payroll World the system has advantages for payroll professionals. ‘OrgVue is not a payroll system, but you can use it to make comparisons, such as for the take-up of benefits,’ he said.

Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, which employs 20,000 workers, piloted OrgVue. Speaking at the launch, the council’s service director of HR and organisational development, Helen Grantham, said: ‘Mapping our establishment can take hours of my team’s time, but OrgVue is real time and the information is at your fingertips. The accuracy means we can sit in meetings and discuss what’s actually in front of us, and not worry if that information is right.’

OrgVue will launch in full later this year.
