Brunner Mond rolls out Crown’s workforce management system in two North West sites

Crown Computing’s workforce management system has been implemented by one of the country’s leading chemical suppliers to improve health and safety on its sites in the North West.

Brunner Mond, owned by India’s Tata Chemicals, is the UK’s sole manufacturer of soda ash and employs about 500 staff and 300 contractors across the two Cheshire sites.

Based on electronic time clocks and contactless ID badges, the Open Options system replaces existing paper-based processes for access control, clocking on and off and activity tracking, meaning staff can be located immediately in an emergency situation.

The system will also cut administration time and cost as workers will clock in and out using badges that automatically upload time and attendance data to the system to be fed directly into the company’s payroll.

Lesley Lightfoot, payroll and HR manager at Brunner Mond, said: ‘Improving health and safety at our plants was the primary driver for rolling out Open Options. However, we are expecting to see many additional benefits, which will have a positive impact on our employees’ working lives and on our overall business efficiency.’

Lightfoot said one of the reasons for choosing Crown was that the company had a detailed plan for rolling out the system.

Crown Computing adds Brunner Mond to other industrial clients, including BAE Systems and Unilever.
